The 3rd Annual DEMMY Awards | 2015

Some of you may already know this – but I haven’t seen a whole lot of movies this year – lots of other things went on in 2015. I had three different jobs, I moved, got married, had a kid, lost internet, gained internet…should be interesting this coming tax season. So to say I lacked in the movie review department would be putting it lightly. Towards the end of the year, I continued to rate films on Half-Popped Reviews, but written reviews died out a bit – as did this website. Even then, I didn’t see all the movies I wish I had. So this list is simply incorrect because I haven’t seen everything…and I am sure it’ll be a while before I do…if at all. So take this award article as-is and move along. I present to you the 3RD ANNUAL DEMMY AWARDS!!!

Favorite Action Movie of 2015

FAVORITE-ACTION-MOVIEThis may be a little bit of a fib, seeing how I couldn’t decide which movie to choose. They all have a good amount of fun action, but because AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON was rated how it was – I felt it needed to win on at least one category. Honorable mentions seen below.

  • Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation
  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  • The Scorch Trials
  • Insurgent
  • Kingsman
  • Mad Max: Fury Road

Favorite Drama Movie of 2015

Favorite Comedy Movie of 2015

FAVORITE-COMEDY-MOVIE

I know a lot of you out there hate this movie, but I’m not really sure why. I guess I didn’t see a whole lot of comedies this year…that’s unfortunate, but I did enjoy this one. Yes, it was basically GROWN UPS meets real life video games, but they were video games I played as a kid, so I thought it was somewhat unique. So sue me.

Favorite Sci-Fi Movie of 2015

FAVORITE-SCI-FI-MOVIE

Favorite Thriller Movie of 2015

FAVORITE-THRILLER-MOVIE

Favorite Horror Movie of 2015

FAVORITE-HORROR-MOVIEM. Night Shyamalan. You all hate him, but I always thought he was under-appreciated. Sure, some of his movies have a clear trend of getting worse and worse, but that doesn’t mean he’s bad…just that he was really pressured into making the same thing over and over because people loved it. I heard about this movie a couple years back, but I didn’t know too much about it other than he was doing it in secret with a low budget in an effort to get back to his glory days. Well, it didn’t necessarily land him back in his glory days, but it is a very decent horror/comedy.

  • Insidious: Chapter 3
  • Potergeist
  • Paranormal Activity: Ghost Dimension

Superhero of the Year Award

SUPERHERO-OF-THE-YEAR

I originally figured the Superhero of the Year would be awarded to ANT MAN, but that was just an okay movie and so was the character. Vision, on the other hand, seems to be perfect with a TON of potential left in the wide open for future releases.

Most Anticipated Movie of 2016

MOST-ANTICIPATED-OF-2016This wasn’t a very easy choice to make – none of them and all of them stand out for me – so I picked the first one that came to mind. That being said, it can be great and it can be terrible. Only time will tell. Some honorable mentions can be seen below.

  • Captain America: Civil War
  • Independence Day 2
  • Star Trek: Beyond
  • Ghostbusters
  • Suicide Squad
  • Deadpool
  • X-Men: Apocalypse

Worst Picture of 2015

WORST-PICTURE

This one had it coming to it – and I’m not the only one to say it. I’ve gone through many people’s lists of 2015, and FIFTY SHADES OF GREY is almost always on the very bottom. Now this is a terrible film that should never…ever…be made again. But alas, two more coming out soon!!!

Best Picture of 2015

BEST-PICTURE

This one came as an absolute shock. Yes, I’m sure a lot more people out there will claim STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS was their favorite movie of 2015 – maybe even out of Star Wars history, but not for me. nothing hit me on a deeper level better than INSIDE OUT did in 2015. This movie was incredibly smart, funny, bold, you name it – and it can be enjoyed by a huge margin of audiences.

Honorable Mention:

  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens
